Kaleigh Smith

Hi! I’m Kaleigh — a Registered Psychotherapist and the founder of Yellow Serenity Counselling and Psychotherapy. I created this practice to offer neuroaffirming, inclusive care in a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.

My Journey and Therapeutic Approach

While I work with a wide range of mental health concerns, my primary focus is supporting neurodivergent individuals—particularly those with ADHD—as well as first responders navigating the unique demands of their roles. My approach is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.

My journey into mental health began at the University of Toronto, where I completed a Specialist Degree in Mental Health (HBSc). I went on to earn a post-graduate certificate in trauma and crisis interventions from Seneca College, followed by a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA.

In therapy, I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space that honours your autonomy and supports meaningful growth. My style is collaborative and curious—I want to understand how you experience the world.  I draw from different therapeutic frameworks often incorporating EMDR, parts work, DBT, interpersonal therapy, and strategies that explore how thought patterns and core beliefs shape emotions, behaviours, and day-to-day functioning

At the core of my work is a commitment to showing up with empathy, honesty, and care—so you can explore your mental health with confidence and clarity, in a space where your voice truly matters.

Mental Health Care for First Responders

I have had the honour of supporting public safety personnel for the past five years, and this work has become a deeply meaningful part of my practice. Prior to opening my private practice, I coordinated mental health care for Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) via the Encompas Mental Health Wellness Program, where I developed a deep understanding of the emotional and psychological impact of high-stress, front-line work. In addition to one-on-one support, I’ve also facilitated peer-based mental health group programs in collaboration with Badge of Life Canada—offering a space for first responders to connect, process, and heal in community with others who understand their experiences. Through this work, I’ve developed a strong understanding of complex PTSD, operational and cumulative stress, sanctuary trauma, and occupational stress injuries.

I hold certifications in ASIST crisis intervention and suicide prevention strategies, and I’m passionate about providing trauma-informed, culturally competent, and judgment-free care to those who have spent their lives protecting others. Whether you’re in active service, off on leave, or navigating retirement, I’m here to help you navigate the mental health challenges that can come with each stage.

Supporting Neurodivergent Individuals

As a proud member of CADDRA and a Certified Clinical Services Provider for ADHD treatment, I am committed to offering specialized, affirming care for neurodivergent individuals. My work with ADHD and AuDHD clients is tailored to their unique needs, aiming to create a supportive and understanding environment where they can explore their challenges, develop coping strategies, and leverage their strengths. My goal is to empower neurodivergent individuals and enhance their overall well-being through personalized, neurodivergent-affirming therapy.

Trauma and Other Mental Health Disorders

With a solid foundation in mental health and extensive experience in treating trauma and various mental health disorders—including anxiety, depression, PMDD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia—I provide evidence-based support tailored to each individual.

My credentials, combined with my dedication to helping others, enable me to offer compassionate and effective care, focusing on healing, resilience, and a brighter future.
