Child, Youth, and Teen Therapy

The Challenges Young People Face
Children, youth, and teens experience complex emotional, social, and developmental challenges as they grow. They may struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, school-related stress, peer conflict, identity development, family transitions, or trauma. These experiences can feel overwhelming and difficult to articulate. Neurodivergent youth—including those with ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences—may also face unique hurdles like executive functioning difficulties, emotional overwhelm, sensory overload, or feeling misunderstood. Without a safe space to explore and process these struggles, young people can feel isolated or unsupported.

How Therapy Helps

Child and youth therapy offers a compassionate, judgment-free environment where young clients can make sense of their experiences. Our therapists are trained in child development, attachment, and the brain-behavior connection, and use developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual. Therapy may include play therapy, art therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness techniques, or parent coaching. For neurodivergent youth, we offer affirming, individualized support that respects neurodiversity. At Yellow Serenity, our therapists adapt tools to suit each child’s unique communication and learning style, helping them self-regulate, build confidence, and advocate for their needs.

The Benefits of Therapy

Therapy can be transformative for children and teens. It helps improve emotional regulation, boost self-esteem, strengthen relationships with peers and family, and develop effective coping strategies.

For neurodivergent youth, therapy provides a space to feel seen and understood—reducing stress and supporting empowerment.

Our goal is not to “fix” the child, but to foster resilience, safety, and confidence so that every young person can thrive.
