Registered Psychotherapist

Sara Servello

Hi there, I’m Sara! I am a registered psychotherapist and have been passionately dedicated to the mental health field for over a decade. I work extensively with individuals, children, youth, and couples, and bring a compassionate, client-centered approach to every session. I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive, and I’m here to support you on that journey. Whether that means working through anxiety, building emotional regulation skills, improving communication, or simply finding more balance in life.

My deep commitment to helping individuals of all ages navigate their mental health challenges is at the core of my work, and I particularly enjoy supporting younger children and their parents through complex behavioural and emotional issues. Together, we can create a space where growth, healing, and connection are possible.

My Journey and Therapeutic Approach

My career began in 2010 while I was completing my Child and Youth Worker diploma, working as a child and youth mental health therapist with Kinark. During this time, I gained invaluable front-line experience in residential homes, crisis centers, and school-based mental health programs.

After years of hands-on experience, I pursued formal education in psychology at Lakehead University, where I earned my degree while continuing to work closely with nurses, doctors, psychologists, and psychotherapists. I have since completed my Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. My academic background has provided me with a strong theoretical foundation, which I combine with the hands-on experience I’ve gained over the years to offer holistic and effective therapy. With over two years as a psychotherapist in private practice, I was hired immediately following my practicum, a testament to my dedication and skill in the field.

I approach therapy with empathy and a deep understanding that each client is unique. My therapeutic style is genuine, honest, and supportive, focusing on building confidence and resilience in my clients. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused CBT for children up to 18, and the Unified Protocol. Additionally, I have recently completed training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and am certified in the Gottman Method for couples therapy. My approach is strength-based, meeting clients where they are and helping them build confidence in themselves.

Child and Youth Therapy

I specialize in working with children and youth with ADHD and ASD, often involving parents in the therapeutic process. I am passionate about integrating mindfulness with CBT in every session, focusing on emotional regulation for both children and their parents. For younger children with behavioral challenges, I use Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) to support parents in fostering positive changes. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel understood and supported as they grow and develop.

Individual Therapy

In addition to my work with children and youth, I find great fulfillment in helping adult individuals navigate a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and managing ADHD. I understand how overwhelming life can feel at times, and I strive to offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, build coping strategies, and reconnect with their strengths.

The skills and insights I’ve gained from working closely with children and families deeply inform my work with adults, allowing me to provide comprehensive care that considers the unique dynamics and stressors that impact individuals across the lifespan. Whether you’re a parent seeking support, a young adult finding your way, or someone navigating life transitions, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy and practical guidance.

Couples Therapy

Additionally, my specialized training in the Gottman Method for couples allows me to work closely with partners with relationship conflicts to improve communication skills, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, and remove barriers within the relationship. I am dedicated to helping couples strengthen their bonds and create a nurturing environment for all members.
